Pig Roast Weekend (8/18, 8/19 & 8/20)
Present: Smoothy, Linda, Snickers, Nobutt, Julie, David, Zachary, Max, Boze, Lori, Megan, Adam & Pride. 

Landowner was not present and was missed.

Everyone arrived safe on Thursday evening. The yard was green, unlike at home.

Friday morning started with pancakes and bacon from the grill. The skies were clear and the sun was out. Replaced the battery, blades and selenoid on the mower and it is working well. Everyone but Linda and the pups went on a hunting license run. Unfortunately the town clerk's office was closed and there were no hours posted. We ended up getting our hunting licenses at the Mart. All three received one dmp for 8x (better than last year). After returning to camp, Boze started mowing with the bush hog and later played a little with the plows. After using the plows, we hooked up the disk and cultipaker to the tractor but ran out of time to use them. Boze borrowed a cooker to use instead of the pig roaster. We made both Beef and Pork in the roaster Friday and Pork on Saturday and the roaster worked well. Thank you to the Hummels for letting us use this roaster. Friday evening ended around the camp fire eating smores and watching fireworks which nobutt provided. 

Saturday- We woke to rain which had started about 4:30 am. Breakfast pizza was prepared and Nobutt had to have 6 eggs and toast as an appatiser before his pizza. Early afternoon we loaded up the atvs and nobutt's trailer and headed for fire wood. Boze pulled the trailer up the logging road to the pine tunnel. We left the trailer there and proceeded to beyond the tunnel to the large tree which had fallen down last year. We cut this tree into pieces and loaded them on the trailer. Boze had trouble stopping with the trailer loaded when decending the logging road but only hit one tree on the way. After returning to camp with the load, we cut everything into proper lengths and stacked it with the camp fire wood. The rain continued on and off all day, while inside eating Saturday's meal (roast pork, baked mac & cheese and corn on the cob)the weather got worse with heavy rain and thunderstorms. 

Sunday- Woke to sunshine and warm temps. After breakfast Nobutt and Julie took Boze's atv along the road and refreshed most of the posted signs. Boze and Smoothy walked the other borders doing the same. During our walk we spooked one deer near the swamp and later observed two deer feeding in the birch area (one was a nice buck), Smoothy did take a few pictures but the woods are very thick this time of year so we'll hope for the best from the pictures. After returning to camp, Boze started the turkey fryer and starting using the tractor to disc. Boze managed to disc once over the formely plowed ground and part of the ground plowed on Friday. Once the turkey was cooked we made fries and chips in the fryer. Smoothy put his trail cam out with hopes it will see action before our next visit to camp. The Perry County residents left camp about 6pm on Sunday and the Lebanon residents were staying until Monday. 

Summary- Great weekend with friends and family. Sad news that the famous taj has been retired. One of the trees holding it has broken off and fallen down. Smoothy had verbal communications with camp ground and it appears they have a viable option for motorhome storage for next year. Hopefully that will mean more time visiting camp for the Lebanon residents which mentioned a possible visit this September. Smoothy experimented with his new toy this weekend (GPS) and with any luck there will be an addition to this web site (camp map)? 

Thank You to everyone for their support with the 2006 pig roast and hopefully their will be another one is 2007.
